GADRI and JASTIP Meetings

APCE-UNESCO is a Category II Institution under UNESCO, its main duties are identifying the main water resources problems in the Asia Pacific region, looking for alternative solutions and approaches and informing it to the public. Efforts to resolve the problem can not be done alone but need cooperation with various stakeholders in the region. Several institutions in Japan have started to explore cooperation with APCE-UNESCO for flood disaster, watershed management, pollution reduction etc.

Two important agendas held by the Government of Japan through Kyoto University are regular meetings, namely:

- GADRI (Global Alliance of Disaster Research Institutes)

- JASTIP (Japan-ASEAN Science, Technology and Innovation Platform)

The GADRI meeting was held on 19 to 21 March 2017, while JASTIP was held on 22 - 23 March 2017.

Two other important agendas are:

- Meeting with ILEC (International Lake Environment Committee) on March 24, 2017

- Meeting with DPRI (Disaster Prevention Research Institute) on March 25, 2017

APCE, represented by Dr. Ignatius D.A. Sutapa, MSc and Dr. Apip, MSc., And Dini Danuarti from P2L, attended the events at the invitation of the Director of DPRI Kyoto University, Prof. Kaoru Takara, who financed the tickets and accommodation while in Japan.
